Ms. Foundation President and CEO, Teresa C. Younger released the following statement in observance of International Women’s Day and A Day Without a Woman:
"At the Ms. Foundation for Women, International Women’s Day has always been a day to continue honoring the profound achievements and the impact that everyday women have on their communities. This year, we are proud to not only support but stand with the millions of women who are participating in the Women’s March A Day Without a Woman. We join women and men around the world in highlighting the vital and deeply undervalued role women play in our communities and economy. We also lift up the many women who are not able to protest, either due to fear of retaliation or financial necessity.
The actions taking place today – on the streets and through our wallets – are not only a symbol of our collective power; they are a forceful reminder that we are not backing down; we will not go back. Until all women are able to live and work with dignity, we are not going anywhere!"
For more than 40 years, the Ms. Foundation for Women has secured women’s rights and freedoms with a special commitment to building the power of low-income, immigrant and women of color. The foundation invests funds, time, expertise and training in trailblazing organizations nationwide.
