Women's Equality Day

Celebrate Women's Equality Day, August 26, 2018

Votes for Women

Our fight for gender equality in Maryland, the United States and around the world is far from over.

2018 marks the 98th anniversary of women winning the right to vote, and we can't let the day pass without honoring its importance, but also honoring the women who fought for us to have this right. We thank the amazing suffragists who worked tirelessly for decades and for those dedicated people who continue those efforts today for our communities, workplaces, schools, and families.

In honor of Equality Day 2018, please see the links below to discover many ways you can support the celebration and remembrance of the women who came before, as well as our current efforts on behalf of all women and girls.

Women's Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting the right to vote to women. The amendment was first introduced in 1878. In 1971, the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as Women's Equality Day.
