Let me share a quick, life-changing story with you...
"Today, on my 47th birthday, I re-read the suicide note I wrote on my 27th birthday about two minutes before my girlfriend, Carol, showed up at my apartment and told me, 'I'm pregnant.' Her words were honestly the only reason I didn't follow through with it. Suddenly I felt I had something to live for, and I started making positive changes. It's been a journey, but Carol is now my wife and we've been happily married for 19 years. And my daughter, who is now a 21-year-old university student pursuing a degree in medicine, has two younger brothers. I re-read my suicide note every year on the morning of my birthday as a reminder to be graceful-I am grateful I got a second chance at life."
That's the opening paragraph of an email Marc and I received recently from a course student named Kevin (and, with Kevin's permission, it's now also an excerpt from our brand new book). Kevin's words remind me that sometimes you have to die a little on the inside first in order to be reborn and rise again as a stronger, happier version of yourself.
Circumstances and people will occasionally break you down to the lowest of lows. But if you keep your mind focused on the positive, your heart open to love, and continue to put one foot in front of the other, you can recover the pieces, rebuild, and come back much stronger and happier than you ever would have been otherwise.
Marc and I have dealt with our fair share of adversity too-losing siblings and best friends to death, financial and business turmoil, etc.-and we've written a lot about it over the years. But today, let me remind you of the clearest sign that you will be just fine, even if you don't feel fine right now:
Right now everything is changing again, nothing is certain, and you are free.
Everything in life is temporary. Nothing lasts. Every moment gives us a new beginning and a new ending. We literally get a second chance every second.
Every time it rains, it stops raining. Everything that goes up comes down. After darkness there is always light-we are reminded of this every morning, but somehow we don't see it.
People all over the world are constantly telling their one heartbreaking story, about how their entire life has turned into an exercise in coping with one particular unfair event from the past. Every present opportunity they have is then burned at the stake to fuel a fiery obsession with something that can't be changed. The key is to realize that YOU don't have to be one of these people.
You are a product of your past, but you don't have to be a prisoner of it. You become a prisoner when you cling to what no longer exists. So remember that if you're brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello. It may be hard, but you CAN let go. and to a certain degree, you must.
You have to let go and accept the feeling of not knowing exactly where you're going next, and train yourself to love and appreciate this freedom. Because it is only when you are suspended in the air, with no destination in sight, that you force your wings to open fully so you can fly. And as you soar around you still may not know where you're traveling to. But that's not what's important. What's important is the opening of your wings. You may not know where you're headed, but you know that so long as your wings are spread, the winds will carry you forward.
But, again, as I'm sure you're aware, that's sometimes much easier said than done.
Letting go and responding better in the present takes guidance and practice.
And that's why we made this process the foundation of our brand new book (you should pre-order it today...to get $50 in bonuses).
It's not too late. You aren't behind. You're exactly where you need to be. Seriously, you are at the forefront of the rest of your life! At the end of it, let there be no excuses, no explanations, and no regrets. It's time to spread your wings! You can let go, open up, and make adjustments by the end of 2018 that will help you feel better, think more clearly, and live a life free of needless long-term heartache. This is precisely why we wrote our new book, Getting Back to Happy: Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Reality, and Turn Your Trials into Triumphs. It's filled with concise guidance on how to do just that.
Truth be told, if I had read this book a decade ago it would have saved me from myself in countless ways. It absolutely would have saved me from intense periods of darkness that were born primarily from my subconscious attempt to hold on to the ideals that were holding me back and breaking my heart. I learned the hard way, but YOU don't have to.
Filled with actionable steps for bouncing back from tough times and getting back on the road to happiness and success, Getting Back to Happy is a book to spark sustainable action-and to return to whenever needed. Sharing never-before-published stories and strategies, the book shows how to harness the power of daily rituals, mindfulness, self-care, and more to shift our perspective-and our actions-in order to become our happiest and most effective selves.
Pre-order it today, reply to this email, copy and paste your Amazon receipt information, and then send it to us. We're preparing two digital bonus books for all pre-orders: a 90-page "daily rituals" workbook and a "daily reminders" book (I guarantee you'll find immense value in these bonuses-they are two tools Marc and I personally use every day).
And yes, the new book shares the title of our renowned Getting Back to Happy course, but understandably, the book and the course are completely different educational tools.
For example, our course is video based, includes live one-on-one Skype/FaceTime coaching with Marc and me, and has an active online support community.
The Getting Back to Happy book is a smaller, self-paced resource you can hold in your hands and take with you wherever you go . something you can turn to in real time, offline, as you need it.
Both tools-the course and the book-complement each other very well, but they are standalone.
In the book, you will face the truth right from the get-go...
You are not the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or a week ago. You are always growing. Experiences don't stop. That's life. And the very experiences that seem so tough when you are going through them are the ones you will look back on with gratitude for how far you have come. Of course, it takes practice to get there, emotionally and physically, and that's why we wrote this for YOU.
The goal of the book is not to get rid of all your negative thoughts, feelings and life situations. That is impossible. The goal is to change your response to them.
Be one of the very first people to pre-order Getting Back to Happy: Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Reality, and Turn Your Trials into Triumphs today (and don't forget to reply to this email and send us your receipt details, so we can send you the bonus books once they're ready).
And some MORE BIG NEWS (about our first book):
Over the next several days, we will be removing all traces of our first book, 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently-it will be removed from Amazon, our blog, etc.
Because after six years on the market, we've decided to touch it up, update it, and re-release it on December 26, 2018.
So, if you want the first edition-the current one-now is your last chance to get it.
And of course, if there's anything else Marc and I can do assist you, please don't hesitate to email us or leave a comment on our blog.
